Making Space Where There Was None

It began with the quiet heartbreak of watching people in need fall through the cracks.

While working in a youth ward, I met adolescents carrying more pain than anyone their age should — not because of anything they had done, but simply because life had been deeply unfair.

We did what we could. But with only twelve beds and a long waiting list, there were always more young people who needed help than we had space to support. That reality never sat easily with me.

Later, I led a DBT project in institutional care. There, I created workshops that made a real difference — engaging, evidence-based, and able to reach adolescents who had often disengaged from traditional forms of therapy.

But again, we were limited. One institution. A handful of adolescents. Too many still out of reach.

Later, while working with adults in an addiction ward, I saw a similar impact — even after decades of pain.
But what many of my patients said stayed with me:
“If only someone had helped me earlier…”
“I could’ve saved decades of pain.”

That’s why I created Acceptitude.

To take what works — and make it accessible to more people.
To offer support earlier, and reach those who might otherwise go unseen.

The name combines Acceptance and Attitude.

Acceptance means creating space for difficult thoughts and feelings without being ruled by them.
It’s the courage to turn toward discomfort, knowing that avoiding pain often makes it worse. In that turning, we reclaim the ability to move forward with intention.

Attitude reflects the belief that even in hardship, we remain capable of growth, connection, and change.
No matter the challenge, we can adapt, learn, and build a meaningful life.

The name pays homage to my patients that faced immense adversity, and whose understandable struggle against reality often deepened their pain.
For many, acceptance was the only way through.
